The Why I’m Going

We all have something to say, but sometimes we are never given an avenue to voice our opinions and ideas. Often times these thoughts that we thought were brilliant are tossed aside and forgotten.

The power of the Internet and social media has challenged this way of thinking.

Today’s technology allows us to share our thoughts through blogs, videos, online photo albums and social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. These different platforms can create a voice for those wanting to be heard and literally inform the world, “What’s happening?” or “What’s on ‘our’ mind?” However, not everyone has the capability to utilize these tools to create awareness of the things going on in their area.

I’ve been given the opportunity to do just that–help give a platform to those voices that haven’t been heard. God has opened up doors for me to partner with Wycliffe Global Alliance’s communications department, Monsoon. located in Manila, Philippines, this coming winter for two months.

Monsoon is an organization that works with Wycliffe Global Alliance and its partner company SIL International to assist in the communications aspect of projects in the South East Asia Pacific region.  They create media strategies and serve as a news bureau informing people via social media and the Internet about the various projects and Bible translations happening in this area.

As most of you know, I am an avid user of these different platforms and have a passion to help bring awareness to different voices. After learning about the mission and goals of Monsoon I prayed if this partnership was what God wanted me to do and am excited to take this journey.

I’m writing this letter to you, asking if you’d partner with me as I embark on this journey to see God work through this organization, the people of the South East Asia Pacific region, and the projects that are currently taking place through Wycliffe Global Alliance.

I invite you to become a donation partner or a prayer partner, and ask you seek God in which partnership he’d like you to join.

The estimated cost of this trip is $2,500 and your donations will help cover flight and travel expenses, living arrangements, and medical expenses as I stay in the Philippines. If you’d like to become a donation partner send me an email at LanPac05@gmail.com and I can send you the information you need or you could donate using paypal.com.

In whatever capacity you choose to partner with me, you can stay up-to-date with what’s happening and see the exciting things that God is doing as I blog, tweet, and “social media.”

Here are the links and usernames for the different mediums you can follow me.
